College Park Icon Georgia Long Has Gone To Be With Her Lord.
Georgia Jewell Long, 90, founder of College Park's Long's Christian Book Store went to be with the Lord after passing away peacefully on Dec 13, 2007. She was born Oct. 17, 1917 in Johnston City, TN. While there she met and married William Long. Soon after they moved to Orlando and had 5 children. They opened Long's Bookstore in College Park nearly 40 years ago - one of College Park's oldest still-family owned stores. Her son, Rodger now owns and manages the business at 1610 Edgewater Drive. Her faith in the Lord has always been the guiding light in her life. Each Christmas, she was adamant that we be reminded that "Jesus Is
The Reason For The Season." You can Honor her memory by making donations to The First Orlando Foundation, 3000 S John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL  32805. The College Park community wishes her loved ones our deepest condolences.

The walkabout's purpose is to analyze assets and opportunities along the Edgewater Drive corridor to create a vision that manages future growth. The Task Force is seeking to understand how citizens want the street to look and feel, including building scale, sidewalk widths and landscaping. ~ more

J. was an active junior at Edgewater High School, a member of the varsity basketball team, and a great kid with a bright future. Today, C.
