On a beautiful spring evening in April, the Rotary Club of College Park hosted Taste of College Park at historic Dubsdread. More than a dozen local restaurants, caterers and beverage distributors came together to promote their cuisine and drinks while raising money for several worthy causes.
Over 300 people attended the event, which not only included music — as well as wonderful food and beverages — but also both live and silent auctions.
Upon entering, each attendee received a cork to give to one of three local nonprofit groups: One Heart for Women and Children, the Christian Service Center and College Park Lacrosse. Each cork was worth $10, and $2,930 in total was distributed among the organizations.
These participating vendors were awarded the following distinctions:
- Green Coat Catering: Best Entrée
- Cookie Cousins: Best Dessert
- Red Cypress Brewery: Best Newcomer
- The Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen: Best Appetizer
- Dubsdread Catering: Best Presentation
- Best Drink: Tim’s Wine Market
- Critics’ Choice: RusTeak Restaurant & Wine Bar
Through the auctions, sponsors and ticket sales, approximately $31,000 was raised at the Rotary event. Ronald McDonald House will also receive 10 percent of the net proceeds.
