Business partners Michael Brito and Christina Gribkowsky are opening Café Linger in the former NYPD pizza space.
They intend to bring back the old coffee culture of sitting down and relaxing with friends. The café will have big couches, bookshelves, and a piano to create a calm atmosphere that will encourage people to stay.
The menu will feature European influenced breakfast items, small and shareable dishes, in-house pastries and local beer and wine. It will also include vegan options.
The cafe will have brunch on the weekends with Prosecco based sparkling wine infused with syrups and sorbets made in-house.
“We want to keep our recipes simple because we want to work with good quality main ingredients,” Gribkowsky said.
Brito and Gribkowsky met at Johnson & Wales University. They both moved back to their hometowns in New Jersey and Germany after college. Their common vision brought them back together and they decided to move back to Florida.
Orlando was their first choice after they witnessed how the community came together after the Pulse tragedy. They now reside in the Ivanhoe area.
“It’s been so awesome. College park has been so welcoming,” Brito said.
They are in the middle of renovating the space and expect to open Café Linger in spring 2018.
