The College Park Baptist Church was founded March 4, 1928 at the corner of Yale and Dixie (now Edgewater Drive). Reverand Milton Bales was called as the first pastor. In 1956, Rev. Fayette Hall set about directing a building program to meet the demands of a growing membership and the need for permanent structures. Two educational buildings were constructed and the groundwork for a sanctuary was started. The sanctuary was dedicated in 1964, during the ministry of Dr. Girod Cole. In 1977, Dr. Charles Horton, the seventh pastor, began the task of renovating existing facilities and encouraging the construction of a Christian Life Center and the College Park Towers were dedicated in December, 1981. A second part of long range planning, an adult education building with a new fellowship hall, was opened for use in 1987.
