College Park Fights Cancer!

The Second Annual Relay for Life in College Park, which took place on April 11, 2008 at St Charles Track and Field was a Community Effort to Benefit for American Cancer Society.
Eleven teams set up booths with fundraisers and campsites for an 18 hour relay to honor cancer survivors and remember the ones we lost, all the while raising money to assist the American Cancer Society in fighting cancer through research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Although their goal was to raise $35,000, they raised $43,000!!!!!
There was an all night disc jockey and group activities. Many people in the community contributed money, food (Starbucks, Roly Poly, Blackwater BarBQ, and more), support and hard work to fight the disease that has effected so many - it was truly a College Park event... even the Orlando Firefighters were there!!
The Theme for the participants was Holidays. Represented in the event and the holidays they chose included::
Earth Day- Community Funding and Investment/Sutton and Sutton
Halloween- Exum Chiropractic
St Patrick's Day- Derenthal Realty Group
4th of July- Eidson Insurance
Chinese New Year- Infusion Tea
Cinquo de Mayo- Rotary of College Park
Mardis Gras- Sandy's Friends and neighbors
and more.
This is but one of many ways that College Park shows its Hometown Spirit, and is one of the things that makes College Park an awesome community in which to call home! For more information contact Brandon Ahlgren at 407-581-2532 or e-mail Brandon.Ahlgren@cancer.org.
