EDGEWATER HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY RECONSTRUCTION TASK FORCE

The Edgewater High School Community Reconstruction Task Force has been working since the spring of 2004 to accomplish one goal;
"To ensure that OCPS dollars are adequately and wisely spent to achieve at Edgewater High School a campus that is on an educational, functional, and aesthetic par with any of the new or renovated high schools being developed in Orange County."

  The Task Force’s standard has been and remains that whatever design solution(s) that are created and recommended be well-researched and based on good data so that Edgewater High School, once re-constructed, will be a lasting and vital "foundational cornerstone" of the College Park neighborhood and Edgewater business community.

  Although the Task Force has been regularly meeting since 2004, it has been the task force’s contact and communication with other vital community groups that have been instrumental in maintaining the focus on the goal of re-building Edgewater. These groups include the College Park Neighborhood Association, The College Park Business/Merchants Association, and Princeton, Lake Silver, and Lee parent groups. Through this continued effort of communicating with a number of community groups, it is evident and resounding that our community at large has a keen continuing interest in being a part of decisions that affect our community for the next 50 years.

This past month, the School Board approved the selection of C.T. Hsu Architects as the architectural firm that will help our community complete the design vision for Edgewater High School. It is vitally important that we, as a community, become fully involved during the design process to ensure that the selected Architect creates a design solution that provides Edgewater High School and our community with a school design that is representative of our community vision and established goal for the project.

We invite you to become involved! For more information, please contact Kathleen Skambis at 407-649-0090. If you want to be included on an email list to receive design workshop notices, Task Force meeting notices, and regular updates on the progress of the Edgewater High School Project, please send your email address, name, and telephone number to ehs_reconstruction@yahoo.com.

Thank you in advance for getting involved in the process of re-building Edgwater High School.
