PLANTING SEEDS OF KNOWLEDGE
| Students in the Princeton Elementary School Science Club planted their spring gardens during the February meeting. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders planted strawberries, watermelon and beans while the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students planted potatoes, corn, tomatoes, and sugar cane. The intermediate grades also learned about the different types of soil in their gardens, determined the composition of the soil and tested for acidity. Over the next few months, all of the students will monitor the growth of their crops with the anticipation of a delicious harvest before summer vacation. Teachers, parents, community members, and staff members work alongside these young scientists as they enjoyed getting their hands dirty while incorporating science and math skills. |

To celebrate Arbor Day, the Science Club planted a loquat tree and a navel orange tree donated by Appenberry's Nursery, one of Princeton's Partners in Education. These trees will enrich the environment and provide years of beauty and enjoyment for Princeton students and families.

STARRY EYED STUDENTS LOOK UP
Princeton Elementary School hosted it's annual Moon Party on its front lawn. Members of the Florida Astrological Society brought out telescopes and treated Princeton families to amazing views of our planetary neighbors. Guests savored Blackwater BBQ and Wendy's Chili. The fifth grade party committee sold Moon Pies, Starburst candies, Milky Way Bars and glow sticks. The Orlando Science Center provided activity stations run by Princeton Staff and PTA volunteers for the children to expand their knowledge of space and planets. Thanks to everyone that attended and contributed to this successful evening.

PRINCETON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CLEANUP
Princeton Elementary Kids Care Club collected close to 100 pounds of trash and debris. Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade volunteered their time to clean up our community. Kids Care Club, sponsored by the Princeton PTA and coordinated by Elizabeth Selepack, has done some amazing activities this year including donating clothes to needy families, making mobiles for assisted living communities, and making cards for our military.
Princeton Families Enjoy a Night of Science
On Friday, January 11 2008, Orlando Science Center hosted the families of Princeton Elementary for Family Science Night. Students and their families enjoyed visiting with their classmates, while interacting with the many hands-on exhibits that OSC has to offer. Families were also able to enjoy IMAX theater presentations and were offered discounted admission to see the new Titanic-The Exhibition exhibit. The event proved to be fun and educational for all!
