From the Desk of City Commissioner Robert Stuart
Dear College Park Neighbor,
On February 7th and 21st, the first two Edgewater Drive Vision Task Force topic meetings, focusing on urban form and design, were held at City Hall. Led by Task Force Chair Claramargaret Groover, the group had a frank discussion about subjects such as existing zoning requirements, access management, and urban design principles. The members also discussed holding future evening meetings in College Park in order to garner more public participation. Another goal of the task force is to meet with Edgewater Drive businesses to make sure their ideas and concerns are discussed in detail.
The Task Force will also be finalizing a survey that will be distributed to interested parties and posted on the City’s website as another avenue to gather public input. Please visit the task force web page located on the City’s website, www.cityoforlando.net under the Economic Development Department in order to view the survey as well as recent power point presentations and to find out information about upcoming meetings.
The City will also be participating in the College Park Neighborhood Association’s annual “Sunday in the Park,” event taking place on Sunday, March 16th from noon – 5 p.m. at Dartmouth Park, 822 Dartmouth Street. This is a great community event that your neighborhood association organizes, so please come out and join your fellow College Park residents for a fun day at one of Orlando’s fine park amenities.
While you are there, enjoy food, entertainment and visit with members of the City’s fire and police departments. And please don’t forget to stop by the City table, which will have information about many programs and will also have the Edgewater Drive Vision Task Force survey available for you to fill out, so that you can share your opinions about how you want your commercial district to look and feel.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our neighborhood, my staff and me, as well as our Great City!
Robert
